NJ Rep Sherrill: Unknown lawmakers lead apparent ‘reconnaissance tours’ before attack on Capitol

Rep. Mikie Sherrill, DN.J., said Tuesday that she saw lawmakers lead people through the Capitol the day before the riot who looked like a ‘reconnaissance tour’, and said members would be held accountable.

Sherrill commented on a 13-minute video on Facebook in which she addressed her voters about the steps Congress will take to hold President Trump and “those responsible” responsible for inciting the riots. .

‘I also intend to see that the members of Congress who assisted him, the members of Congress who had groups through the capital that I saw on January 5 for exploration for the next day. The members of Congress who incited the violent crowd. “The members of Congress who have tried to help our president undermine our democracy, I will see that they are held accountable,” Sherrill said.

The congresswoman does not name any of the legislators, or give additional details on what qualified their actions as ‘reconnaissance’. According to Politico, it is not clear how she determined that the ‘reconnaissance’ was related to the riots the next day.

Her office did not immediately respond to a Fox News e-mail sent after hours.

Sherrill also discussed why she voted in favor of a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to call for the 25th amendment to remove Trump from office.

The measure was implemented late Tuesday (223-205) and is considered symbolic because Pence has already said he will not take action. The House is expected to vote Wednesday to accuse the president.

Sherrill also outlined her report of what happened on January 6, when Pro-Trump protesters stormed the Capitol, sending Congress into recession and locking up the Capitol building – while members tried to get the results of the presidential election to confirm in favor of President-elect Joe Biden.
