A majority of New York congressional Democrats, including Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the president of the judiciary, Jerry Nadler, on Friday made almost simultaneous appeals to Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign.
“The repeated accusations against the Governor and the way he has reacted have made it impossible for him to continue ruling at this stage,” Nadler said in a statement on Twitter.
“Governor Cuomo has lost the trust of the people of New York. Governor Cuomo must resign,” Nadler said.
So far, 11 of the 19 New York House Democrats have called for Cuomo to quit.
The disputed Democratic governor has come to terms with his resignation of politicians on his own in his own party due to an increasing list of sexual harassment and misconduct against him in the workplace.
Cuomo has repeatedly vowed not to resign, urging people to suspend verdict on the numerous allegations against him until the investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James is completed.
But Democrats and Republicans in the Empire State have only increased the pressure on Cuomo, recently by taking steps following an indictment.
Cuomo suggested that the attacks be politically motivated. Several New York Democrats are currently considering launching an offer for Cuomo’s work, as his political future appears to be increasingly in doubt.
But an avalanche of Congressional Democrats joined the growing chorus on Friday morning against Cuomo, who is not only facing the allegation of harassment, but also for the administration of Covid in nursing homes.
“As members of the New York delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives, we believe these women, we believe the reporting, we believe the Attorney General, and we believe the fifty-five members of the New York State Legislature. York, including the Senate of the State Majority Leader, which has concluded that Governor Cuomo can no longer lead effectively in the face of so many challenges, “Representatives Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman said in a joint statement.

“As civil servants, we must earn the trust and respect of those who represent us. There is only one way the governor can restore his accountability and trust in his office: he must resign,” reads the statement by Nydia Velazquez, DN. Y.
House Supervisor and Reform President Carolyn Maloney, DN.Y., said in her own statement: “We have come a long way, but now is the time to finally ensure that this generation’s courage and stop harassment forever. “
In particular, the two Democratic senators from New York have so far been unwilling to call on Cuomo to resign.
On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., called the latest claim against Cuomo “nausea,” but stopped demanding the governor resign.
Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, DN.Y., did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the development of House Democrats. The White House also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Tuesday that she had spoken to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris about Cuomo’s controversies, “and I reiterated on their behalf that they believe all women should be heard, that they respectfully to be treated. “
Psaki took note of the investigation that AG James is conducting, saying Biden and Harris “respect it and believe it should continue.”
