New details appear in the arrest of Bruce Springsteen DUI

“If all this is resolved, I think people will have serious concerns about the seriousness of this, especially if the actual details of this are revealed, including the blood alcohol level,” the source told CNN.

Springsteen was arrested on Nov. 14 in Gateway National Recreational Area in Sandy Hook, NJ, and is charged with DWI, reckless driving and drinking in an enclosed area, according to a spokesman for the National Park Service.

That night, the source close to the singer said, Springsteen took a shot of alcohol with fans in the park after taking a photo with them. The source added that it is known that Springsteen is taking photos with fans. “This is typically Bruce,” the source said.

“I do not know why they stopped him,” authorities said. “I technically mean that you are not allowed to drink in a state park, and I may not know that if a policeman sees someone drinking and does not give a ticket, they lose their job,” the person added. “Any kind of liquor-related thing is serious,” the source added.

One officer said they saw Springsteen “consume a shot of Patron tequila and then get on his motorcycle and turn on the engine,” according to a probable statement by CNN.

Springsteen told the officer he had consumed two shots of tequila in the past twenty minutes, according to the possible cause statement.

“SPRINGSTEEN smelled strongly of alcohol coming from his person and had glassy eyes,” the officer said in the statement, adding that he “visibly swung back and forth while I observed his eyes.”

According to the officer, Springsteen took 45 steps during the ‘walk and turn’ test ‘instead of the command 18.’

Before the show, the officer said he approached Springsteen and informed him that alcohol was prohibited in the park, and asked if Springsteen was leaving, after which ‘he confirmed that he would drive out of the park’, the statement read.

CNN contacted representatives of Springsteen and the National Park Service for further comment.

A Jeep spokesman told CNN on Wednesday that the company would suspend their ad, including Springsteen, which was first released during the Super Bowl debut in light of the charges.

“It would be inappropriate to comment on the details of a case we have just read about and which we cannot substantiate,” the company said in a statement. “But it’s also right that we interrupt our Big Game ad until the real facts can be established.”

“I just hope Jeep looks bad in the end,” said the source close to the music icon.

CNN contacted Jeep for further comment.

Springsteen is expected to have his first trial on DWI charges by the end of February, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the New Jersey district told CNN.
