New Arizona Cardinals receiver AJ Green says he has ‘a lot left in the tank’

TEMPE, Ariz. AJ Green, wide receiver of the new Arizona Cardinals, says he still has ‘a lot left in the tank’ and thinks he has nothing to prove by signing for another team for the first time in his career.

“I still feel young,” the 32-year-old Green said Thursday during his introductory Zoom press conference. “Legs feel young. … I think I still have many years left to play at a high level.”

Green has signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals, hoping the legs can help Arizona carry at least its first playoff spot since 2015. Sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal was worth up to $ 8.5 million and that it was guaranteed $ 6 million.

“I think that’s the main goal, with winning a championship,” Green said. “For me, I’ve been in Cincinnati for ten years. So it’s amazing to go somewhere to where the organization is now ready to win.”

He said Arizona was among a handful of teams that were ‘very’ interested in him, but Green’s attraction for the Cardinals was how he approved of it in their offensive plan.

‘I was looking for an offense that could really fit my skill, and I felt – with Kyler [Murray] a Hop [DeAndre Hopkins] and [Christian] “Kirk, and the guys they have around this offense – I felt it would be best for me,” Green said.

Their stability on quarter also helped the Cardinals’ case.

Green said last season was’ difficult ‘because of the Bengals’ three-man quarterback, especially since he suffered an ankle injury that missed him throughout 2019. But he said he also feels he helped last season to become mentally stronger.

“I’ve been in Cincinnati for ten years, so that’s all I know,” Green said. “It’s refreshing to come to Arizona. I think you’re watching Tom Brady, all these other guys, in the league [that] has been in the same places for years, and you saw what Tom Brady did last year. I think it’s good. ‘
