As expected, Nate Diaz did not remain silent for long about how Saturday’s lightweight move in Abu Dhabi came about.
In the main event of UFC 257, Dustin Poirier avenged his UFC 178 knockout loss to Conor McGregor with a spectacular finish of his own to ward off the promotion’s third trip to Fight Island in 2021. ‘The Diamond’ stopped McGregor in the second round to pick up the biggest win of his career and likely set him up for a lightweight championship event.
Diaz, who became McGregor’s first in the UFC at UFC 196, took to Twitter on Sunday to give his quick reaction to McGregor’s first KO loss in the promotion.
These guys are all done all the time ♂️

The Stockton resident has not competed since UFC 244, when he fought Jorge Masvidal for the “BMF” fight and lost in the main event by the doctor. Diaz did not have much to say during the build-up to the fight, but he delivered a chime after the very respectful face of the main contestants on Friday.
Diaz has always been associated with McGregor as half of one of the most important competitions in the sport. In their first of two events, Diaz replaced an injured Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC 196 main event and submitted the former double champion in the second round to achieve his biggest career victory. McGregor jumped back at UFC 202 five months later and got a very split decision in the rematch.
While a trilogy fight with McGregor looks like the second loss in three fights for “The Notorious,” it’s one of the more intriguing options, but Poirier also showed interest in fighting Diaz at the press conference Saturday night.
And now it seems that the interest is mutual. Shortly after his reaction to Poirier’s victory, Diaz, who would once stand with the Louisianan at UFC 230, faced a challenge.
