Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton Duet ‘Only Thing That’s Gone’: Listen

After nearly three months of teasing and “licking” a chain store, Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: the double album – in all its 30-track glory – was released Friday. One of the most anticipated tracks links Wallen with Chris Stapleton. ‘Only Thing That’s Gone’, written by Wallen with Matt Dragstrem, Chase McGill and Josh Thompson, delivers a heavy dose of country soul.

Wallen kicks off the slow wave in the middle of the tempo and hands over an explanation to a sympathetic bartender. “She told me where I could go / just stopped here before I went,” he sings. Stapleton comes in the second verse, in which he lays down ‘a hundred and a few change’s to keep his glass full and offer $ 20 to the group – if they do not play sad songs. ‘Only Thing That’s Gone’ builds on a cracking guitar solo, and the latest in a long line of classic country payouts: ‘Buddy, my last drink is not the only one gone,’ harmonize Wallen and Stapleton.

Dangerous: the double album also features Wallen hits such as “7 Summers” and “More Than My Hometown,” along with his popular cover of Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up.” The record, the follow-up to Wallen’s debut in 2018 If i know me, intends to be a major artist. In December, it set an Apple Music record as the most pre-added country album in the history of the platform.
