The state of Illinois has added more than 300 new COVID-19 vaccination sites in the last day, health officials announced Thursday, with hundreds more Walgreens stores across the state and some CVS sites now administering vaccinations.
An additional 339 Walgreens sites in Illinois have been opened as vaccination sites since Wednesday, state officials said, as well as four CVS sites.
This brings the total number of vaccination sites in the state to 860.
Government officials announced Wednesday that more than 100 vaccination sites have been opened in the past week, adding 22 local health department, medical center and hospital facilities, as well as two new mass vaccination sites and 110 retail pharmacy stores.

More than 3.2 million of the state’s residents are eligible for phase 1B vaccinations, which include people aged 65 and over, as well as ‘essential workers’.
The state will expand the list of people eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations in phase 1B of the enactment, government JB Pritzker announced on Wednesday and vaccinated for people with a ‘high risk medical condition’ or ‘comorbidity’ to be vaccinated to become. The list includes those with cancer, diabetes, obesity, women who are pregnant, and those with various other conditions.
Current officials said the current vaccination sites in the state are available by appointment only, but the state plans to start boarding in the coming weeks.
In addition to the above locations, the DuPage County Department of Health has moved its vaccination to the clinic at DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton to expand capacity. The new space was opened on Wednesday for vaccinations.
Despite the additional locations, Illinois officials continue to encourage patience, saying the supply of vaccine is limited.
“We are limited by the amount of vaccine available and allocated by the federal government,” the governor’s office said in a statement. “Vaccinations are currently only available by appointment and we encourage people to check back regularly for open appointments. Until the supply is increased, there will be a huge demand and we ask people to be patient.”
