Minnesota bodyguard video of man killed by police

Authorities in Minnesota have placed a raid on a house belonging to a man after he was shot dead by officers last week, amid screams that the cops were too aggressive when carrying out their warrant.

The video, released on Saturday by the sheriff in Hennepin County, shows how officers were busy with the ‘knock-and-announce’ warrant at the home of Dolal Idd, 23, hours after he was in a confrontation on Wednesday. was shot dead with police.

The footage shows police officers arriving at Idd’s home around 2am on Thursday and hitting the door with armed weapons and shouting: ‘Police! Search warrant! Let me see your hands! ”

After they were inside, police gathered more than half a dozen people, including children, women and a man in his shirt, the video shows.

“We have children upstairs, we have children,” one woman told police. “We have a daughter downstairs, a 19-year-old daughter.”

Another woman asks, ‘Can you tell us something about what’s going on? ‘

One of the police responds that an officer will explain everything.

“He’s coming to talk to you in a minute,” he says as the woman gets excited.

The search took place in the aftermath of Idd’s shooting death at a gas station in Minneapolis on Wednesday around 5pm – after police said he first shot at officers.

Bodycam video of the incident shows Idd trying to chase away police. He is brought into the corner by three patrol vehicles and seen holding an object that looks like it was a gun when police shoot.

Police said a gun was later found at the scene.

But the subsequent raid on the house after Idd, who was Somali, was shot, caused concern among some community activists and elected officials.

“I see no respect for the family,” Minnesota lawmaker Hodan Hassan told the nonprofit news site Sahan Journal. ‘I do not see cultural sensitivity. And I do not see compassion. ”

However, the sheriff’s office said it had released footage of the police raid to show that the officers were acting properly and humanely.

“Based on watching the video, the sheriff praised his deputies for their professionalism and said that they acted appropriately, with respect and followed the HCSO procedure for high-risk warrants,” the office said in a statement.

Police found no weapons in the home, but said there was probably reason to believe there may have been firearms at the home.

The Idd shooting was the first police death in Minneapolis since the death of George Floyd on May 25.
