For those who are worried about whether or not Legal Blonde 3 will follow the iconic original – do not be alarmed! According to Mindy Kaling, who is currently writing the screenplay, it will surely ‘bend and snap’ Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor.
In an interview with Access, The office alum presented some details about the upcoming delivery of the romantic comedy. “I love the franchise so much,” Kaling said. “I like Elle Woods as a character and when Reese asked me to write it, I was like, ‘Absolutely! ”
Kaling added that she can not wait for people to see Reese Witherspoon as 40-year-old Elle Woods, but how she was at 21.
As for when we can see the movie, fans will have to be patient because we are in a pandemic and shooting movies was a challenge. Kaling said: “I do not know when we can make films again, but it would be great if, if Reese likes the screenplay, it would be fantastic.”
Based on Kaling’s excitement and love for rom-coms, Legal Blonde 3 looks in good hands. Since she’s such a fan of the original, we can definitely expect a nod to Elle’s origin story – including the memorable ‘Bend and Snap’.
“Bend and Snap is forever,” Kaling admitted. “We definitely have a lot of fans of the original film.”
