Megan Anderson is no longer under UFC contract after losing to Amanda Nunes

Megan Anderson will need a new fighting house.

The former featherweight contender is no longer under contract with the UFC after completing her deal following a loss to Amanda Nunes last weekend.

UFC officials confirmed that Anderson had completed her contract with the promotion when he spoke to MMA Fighting on Tuesday.

During a live stream on Twitch, Anderson confirmed that her time with the UFC was coming to an end, although she also said that the promotion plans to dump the entire featherweight division for women.

Several sources who spoke to MMA Fighting denied that the UFC was planning to get rid of the featherweight division. After Nunes’ overwhelming victory at UFC 259 last weekend, UFC president Dana White said the weight class would remain as long as she wanted to defend the title at £ 145.

Nunes is currently 3-0 as a featherweight in the UFC after sending out Cris Cyborg to claim the title and then beating the subsequent title defense against Felicia Spencer and Anderson.

As for Anderson, her run with the UFC ends after she achieved a 3-3 record with the promotion after joining Invicta FC in 2018. The former Invicta champion suffered losses in two of her first three fights, including an impeccable defeat against former champion weightlifter Holly Holm in her debut.

The Australian fighter has finally earned a title shot after beating Zarah Fairn Dos Santos and Norma Dumont, but now it looks like she’s going to look for a new promotion.

As for the future of the featherweight division in the UFC, there is currently only one fight in the weight class discussed, with Spencer going to tackle newcomer Danyelle Wolf on May 22nd.
