Neighbors of Congress are on the run Thursday in a public haunt, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene placing a sign outside her office in the Capitol and declaring ‘there are two generations’, after Rep. Marie Newman puts up a transgender flag next to her door to protest the Republican of Georgia. opposition to the Equality Bill.
Greene, who was elected in November, posted a video on Wednesday from her hangs the sign that reads “There are TWO generations: Man and woman, trust science.”
It sits directly across the hall from the office of Rep Newman, who has a transgender daughter.
Newman (D-Ill.) also posted a video of herself on Twitter showing her hanging a transgender flag.
“Our neighbor, @RepMTG, tried to block the Equality Act because she believes that discrimination against Trans-Americans is ‘disgusting, immoral and evil.’ “We thought we would put up our Transgender flag so that she would look at it every time she opened her door,” she said in the report.
The two congresswomen shoot each other all week amid the debate over the equality law.
Taylor Greene, who opposes the legislation, responded to a tweet from Newman about her speech on the House floor in support of the bill.
‘Without the Equality Act, millions of Americans, like my daughter, could be denied housing, education, and more simply because they identify as transgender. “I am voting to pass the Equality Act for my daughter – the strongest, bravest person I know,” Newman said.
The Georgia representative shot Newman in her own post.
“As mothers, we all love our children. “But your biological son does NOT belong in my daughters’ bathrooms, changing rooms and sports teams,” she said.
Earlier, Taylor Greene noted that she a motion filed to adjourn “to give every member of Congress time to think again about destroying #WomensRights and #WomensSports and #ReligiousFreedom before going for the #EqualityAct!
Taylor Greene, who was deprived of her committee assignments because she voiced QAnon conspiracy theories, also quarreled with Democratic Representative Ted Lieu over the equality law.
Lieu of California takes note of her motion to postpone in a tweet addressed to her.
“Dear representative @mtgreenee: congratulations on the first random postponement! Can you feel the power? You must force all members to show up on the floor. The downside, of course, is that it’s a waste of time and taxpayers ‘money for us to vote on stupid, nonsensical motions,’ he said earlier this week.
She strikes back.
“I hope you actually have to walk to the room to vote (do your job) that maybe enough blood will flow to your brain to vote NO to the #EqualityAct and NOT destroy #WomensRights and #ReligiousFreedom,” Taylor Greene said.
“In the real world, people do not complain like you do.”
The House is expected to vote Thursday on the legislation, which will explicitly extend federal civil rights protection to LGBTQ Americans.
