Seven months after the pandemic brought the Atlanta Hawks’ season to an unwelcome end, it was time for a reunion in Southern California to bring everyone back together.
Coach Lloyd Pierce and all the Hawks returning would meet for team time, with all sorts of activities planned that he hoped would help their chemistry check a season that everyone knew would be busy. Basketball was picked up against other NBA players, a boxing class where they squared each other and group dinners where topics included the upcoming election.
But the real head-scratching took place when Pierce and Trae Young met privately to discuss their upcoming third year together.
