‘Loki’, ‘Falcon & The Winter Soldier’, ‘Coming 2 America’ and more – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: As the exhibition and the domestic box office remain in purgatory during the pandemic, with several tent pole films being delayed later in the year, you would think that the streamers would have the opportunity to refill the big studios with their wares during the Super Bowl, right?

Not quite.

We hear that HBO Max, Peacock, Apple TV and Netflix are expected to sit on the sidelines during Super Bowl LV, while the latter made a big splash in 2018 with its surprising premiere of Paramount’s The Cloverfield paradox. While the big studios played nine movies during last year’s Super Bowl (including pre- and post-match, and not cross-ads like Jeep’s) Groundhog Day) which collected 171.7 million views online in the 24 hours after the match, the number of series or movies printed is about five to six. The estimated cost for a 30-second space is $ 5.5 million, slightly lower than the $ 5.6 million in 2020.

Super Bowl ads: Covid-19 throws flags, but CBS and brands still see chance to score

Fun fact: Apple did not broadcast a trailer during the Super Bowl for 37 years, the last being the classic “1984” series of the Macintosh computer directed by Ridley Scott.

Discussing Super Bowl venues is not part of every studio’s film or TV campaign strategy, but those that have been present in the past have usually made a big splash, meaning Universal has made an opportunity F9 Preview last year with a pre-Big Game Friday concert, featuring stars Cardi B, Ludacris, Ozuna, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, who recorded the 439.3 million recordings worldwide on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Little did anyone know at the time that Covid would postpone the film’s series, which was originally scheduled to take place on May 22, 2020, until May 28, 2021. Nevertheless, it’s the kind of eyeball grip – last year’s Super Bowl LIV drew 113.4 million viewers. that some studios invest in.

Usually Warner Bros. and Sony sit out. Disney (and before the merger of 20th Century Fox), Universal and Paramount used the NFL event.

Disney will have two to four trailers, on the same level as previous Super Bowls. The studio always likes to keep their Super Bowl explosion near the vest, but it’s quite conceivable that we’ll see their Marvel rate again, specifically Disney + trailers for Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Solider, and possibly their summer release on May 7 Black widow (who also aired a spot during the Super Bowl last year) or their March 5 Disney and Disney + premium debut of animated photography Raya and the last dragon. While Raya seems to be on track to meet its release date, Covid or not, Black widow may be delayed. I hear there will be no surprises during Super Bowl Black widow jettisoning at Disney +. In a 24-hour online viewer game via RelishMix, Black widow was second on 18.7M views behind F9see 110.9M. Mulan, Disney’s second trailer topped movie trailers 12.4 million times.

Hulu, I hear, will not have an ad this year, although there will be a Disney bundle ad.

I understand Universal will only be sending out one trailer, and that’s for their summer M. Night Shyamalan thriller Old which will be released on July 23rd. The two-time filmmaker nominated by Oscar is already bothering on his Twitter account that a spot will drop in the next five days.

Arsenio Hall, left, and Eddie Murphy in ‘Coming 2 America’.
Amazon Studios

Amazon will hold a trailer for their Paramount acquisition of the sequel to Eddie Murphy-Arsenio Hall Upcoming 2 America this year. Unlike last year when big Paramount put their theater poles on the theater in 2020 Sponge on the Run, Quiet Place 2, and Top Rifle: Maverick, the Melrose lot will not move any titles with the theater release calendar.
