Left plays ‘identity politics’ with Neera Tanden’s confirmation battle: Tammy Bruce

The complaints against the senators who will reject the candidate for President Biden’s office of management and the director’s budget Neera Tanden are an example of leftists using ‘identity politics’, Fox News staffer Tammy Bruce said on Tuesday.

“Some of the complaints we’re hearing are that it’s because of her race and that her gender is the reason her nomination is in trouble. That’s the most racist and sexist thing you can say because you’re arguing here that they not ‘if they do not ask hard questions, they should not point the finger … They are just mean,’ Bruce told Fox & Friends.

The host of “Get Tammy Bruce” on Fox Nation stressed that “many people of color and women” who “went through the Senate confirmation were good.”

“People need to realize that this is not just the kind of politics. It’s about identity politics,” Bruce said.

NEERA TEETH, XAVIER BECERRA UNDER FIRE AS MOTHER NOMINATED MOVES TO SURVIVE CONFIRMATION CAMPS

President Biden is behind a number of cabinet meetings for uphill battles – including Neera Tanden, his nominee to head the Office of Management and Budget, and Xavier Becerra, his choice as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services – as a growing number of senators have vowed to oppose their confirmations.

The confirmation of Teeth appears to be most in jeopardy after several swinging senators – including at least one Democrat – announced plans to vote against her confirmation. The former president of the Liberal Center for American Progress has repeatedly come under fire during her confirmation hearing, as Republicans pointed to hostile tweets she posted against various lawmakers – some of which were removed very late last year.

During the trial, Sen. Ron Portman, R-Ohio, gave examples of “some of the thousands of negative public statements” that Teeth made. These include calling Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, “the worst,” and Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark. refers to then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as ‘Moscow Mitch’ and ‘Voldemort’, referring to the Harry Potter villain.

Portman said that even after Teeth removed tweets, there were still nine pages of posts about Cruz that still went up.

“I specifically wonder how you plan to repair fences and build relationships with members of Congress who have attacked you through your public statements?” Ask Portman.

Bruce explained that the “whole point of identity politics” is to “argue that certain people do not have to answer questions and that they should be treated differently.”

“It falls again into this argument, which is the sexist, racist argument that those certain kinds of people should be treated with children’s gloves if they can actually deal with that arena,” Bruce said.

“I mean, it’s more about whether senators are insulted or not, and where these people stand and whether they’s capable.”
