Linebacker Kyle Van Noy’s time with the Dolphins is over.
Van Noy has been notified by the team that he will be released after playing one year of the four-year contract he signed with them as a free agent last year. Van Noy issued a statement saying he did not expect the move and felt he was living up to expectations during his one year in Miami.
“I’m surprised and disappointed in their decision,” Van Noy said via Mike Garafolo of NFL Media. “As captain, I gave everything to the team. I struggled through the season with a painful hip injury, including one night in the hospital. I was brought there to be a leader and I know my teammates looked after me and respected me. I look forward to making an impact on my next team. ”
Of Noy’s release, $ 9.775 million will clear up the cap space for Miami.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that the Dolphins never broke to rework the contract as a way to hold Van Noy. They paid him $ 15 million for one year of work and now he will be able to get someone else to pay him in 2021.
