Kinney Drugs booked appointments for the full supply of coronavirus vaccine within 5 hours

Syracuse, NY – Kinney Drugs made appointments in just five hours on Monday for the total supply of 7,500 coronavirus vaccines.

The Governor-based drug chain announced Monday morning that it will administer the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine by appointment to people 75 years and older at all of its 75 pharmacies in New York, including 16 in Onondaga County, and will be the first drug chain to offer the vaccine on.

People booked appointments on the chain’s website within five hours for Kinney’s entire offering of 7,500 doses.

“The response was great and currently all appointments are being discussed; however, additional appointments will open as more vaccine becomes available, ‘the company said on its website. “We ask that you please do not call your local store, as they are focused on serving patients and have no additional information.”

Neal Gorman, a spokeswoman for the company, said the chain’s pharmacy teams had jointly received thousands of inquiries about the vaccine.

The company’s initial vaccine supply is sufficient for five days of appointments. Gorman said the chain expects to receive additional doses and plans to open its online scheduling tool by February 15 pending confirmation of the additional awards.
