Kelly Dodd blames mistakes on social media over ‘cancel culture’

Kelly Dodd is no stranger to controversy, but she hates being a ‘victim’ of the so-called ‘cancel culture’.

“Kelly, it was so disappointing to see you call protesters looters,” a fan question from Andy Cohen conveyed during the “Real Housewives of Orange County” reunion Wednesday night. “Don’t you think that as a Mexican-American you have a responsibility to stand with your marginalized communities?”

“Listen, I have nothing to protest with … Peaceful protests – I’m all about it,” Dodd, 45, replied. ‘But it was on a whole different level that I saw in New York. There was looting. There were buildings burning down and I do not think that is the way to protest. ”

Cohen, 52, raised Dodd’s next social media blunder of 2020: posting a photo at her bridal shower wearing a hat with ‘Drunk Wives Matter’. Asked if she understood why people were upset about it, Dodd said the hat was two years old and that it was a gift.

“There were a lot of drunk women at the party,” Elizabeth Lyn Vargas offered, while Dodd explained that it was not meant to mock the Black Lives Matter movement.

Dodd did allow her to see how the hat could offend people after Braunwyn Windham-Burke pushed her before she offended.

‘I was not malicious and attacked by this cancellation culture, it’s a bunch of haters who would never have a voice, and here they come together and [coming] to me, ”she said.

‘However, it’s not just haters. These are people who are oppressed, “said Windham-Burke (43).

“Four of my best friends are African Americans and they did not take offense,” Dodd shouted, adding, “It’s white people who did it!”

Dodd also reaffirmed that she is black, but does not identify her as a black person.

Earlier in the episode, Dodd’s 28-person wedding to Fox News reporter Rick Leventhal became a similar point of contention when she told Cohen she had a wedding due to the pandemic.

“I’m glad I did, because no one got sick and it was beautiful,” she said.

Cohen then read a fan question asking the women if they thought Dodd’s wedding was irresponsible.

“It was not necessarily irresponsible to test everyone,” Vargas replied.

“But it’s good to argue?” Dodd in between. ‘Everyone can protest and be between a billion people? But I can not hold a wedding? ‘

It is unclear whether the drama of Windham-Burke and Dodd will play out in the next season of ‘RHOC’, as Dodd said she would stop the program if the former returned.
