Kamala Harris ignores question over Cuomo sexual harassment scandal

Vice President Kamala Harris ignores a question about the growing sexual harassment scandal of the New York Democratic government, Andrew Cuomo, while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.

Harris spoke briefly with reporters after House lawmakers approved the Senate version of President Biden’s $ 1.9 billion coronavirus relief package in a party vote. After the event, a reporter asked Harris to see her about the allegations against Cuomo.

SCALE QUESTIONS OFFER RETURNS FROM CUOMO AS ‘GOLD STANDARD’ OF LEADERSHIP COVID-19

“Madam Vice President, do you have any comments on the Cuomo government?” asks the reporter. Harris walks out of the information hall without responding to the question.

Cuomo has received calls to resign over the past few days after several women accused the governor of sexual harassment and other inappropriate actions. Earlier Wednesday, the Albany Times-Union reported that a female former assistant alleged that Cuomo touched her last year during a meeting in the mansion.

Critics have appealed to Harris to condemn Cuomo, given the harsh stance she took towards Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and former Democratic Senator Al Franken when faced with allegations of sexual misconduct.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki addressed Harris’ position on the matter at a news conference last week.

“I think the vice president’s opinion is that she believes a woman should be treated with respect. Their voices should be heard,” Psaki said.

New York Attorney General Letitia James investigated the claims. Cuomo said he would not resign and denied wrongdoing.

“As I said yesterday, I have never done anything like this,” Cuomo said in response to the Times-Union report. “The details of this report are dire. I will not go into the details of this or any other allegation, given the ongoing review, but I am confident in the outcome of the Attorney General’s report.”
