Many NFL teams could change quarters in 2021, but few need one like the Indianapolis Colts. After Matthew Stafford, who was allegedly on his way to the Rams, swung and missed, the AFC South contenders only had the new rookie Jacob Eason under contract in the post. And now, two weeks after starter Philip Rivers announced his retirement in 2020, team owner Jim Irsay has written off the idea that another great Colts QB will retire to solve the problem.

About a Thursday one-on-one with Chris Widlic from CBS4 IndyIrsay has another round of speculation about a return of Andrew Luck, the former no. 1 pick from the Colts, and the four-time Pro Bowler, who suddenly hung up his braces before the 2019 season.

“I’m going to say this (to) Colt fans: I think (we) really need to digest this fact that he’s now retired more than a year and a half ago,” Irsay said. ‘I mean, he’s retired … Only Andrew knows, of course, because it’s his decision, but I can only say that he’s definitely retired and that there really is no wrapping room or anything, as much as people want to hear it. . Believe me, I wish this was true and I hid a big announcement that could happen in two days. But that’s just not the case. ‘

In other words, if Colts fans are not yet from Luck, they really need to do it. Even though he was only 31, Luck has given no indication since he walked away from the game that he intends to return. The general manager, Chris Ballard, has meanwhile admitted that he is out of season that he is well aware of the vacancy of the club in QB, and even said that he will consider draft prospects of the first round at the post. The Colts are reportedly linked with several veterans reportedly on the trade block, including the Eagles ‘Carson Wentz and Jets’ Sam Darnold.
