Harrison completed the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge 2020 in 70 days, 3 hours and 48 minutes – a new world record for the youngest woman to row solo across any ocean, Atlantic Campaigns said.

Harrison, from the enclosed city of Thirsk in North Yorkshire, England, wrote on her website that she was inspired to take part in the challenge when she saw the 2018 race end while swimming in the Caribbean.
‘It was not just watching the torches at Nelson’s Dockyard and holding on to a race that inspired me; it also spoke to a family member of a young man who had just finished, who told me how wonderful it was. I did not say ‘not a chance I would do it’, it was rather a fact why it is not done? she wrote.
She says she hopes “to inspire young people that it’s okay to do things alone,” according to her Facebook page.
