Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway will help Apple recreate the WeWork disaster for TV

Apple’s television adaptation of the podcast adaptation of the real soap opera that was WeWork now has some great talent. Jared Leto, the leading vampire of Morbius, and Anne Hathaway, joins the Apple TV Plus series WeCrashed such as Adam and Rebekah Neumann, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

WeCrashed derives its name from the Wondery podcast on which it is based, which sets out the meteoric rise and fall of the real estate business that has characterized itself as a technology company. Many of WeWork’s problems (and presumably also the plot of the show) were on the Neumanns. Adam Neumann was described as a risk factor in the S-1 documents released before the IPO of the company, and a profile of the Neumanns in The Wall Street Journal did not do much to dissuade anyone that they were not completely out of touch. For example, Rebekah Neumann apparently fired several people because she ‘did not like their energy’, and Adam Neumann apparently intended to become ‘president of the world’.

In many ways, Hathaway and Leto can be perfect for the roles. Each actor has played eccentric one-percenters in the past. Leto made a sinister turn as a wealthy replica designer in Blade Runner 2049, and Hathaway had a lot of fun in Ocean’s 8 as a movie star in the middle of a diamond robbery.

There is no fixed release date for WeCrashed, but there are still many other development projects for the mining industry. If a WeWork raid seems more than your speed, Succession‘s Nicholas Braun plays Adam Neumann in a different version of the story. And if you prefer your scandals to bloodshed, Kate McKinnon stands in line to portray Elizabeth Holmes in a story of Theranos’ extensive deception.
