Janet Jackson’s ‘Control’ is a top step after Justin Timberlake’s apology

Janet Jackson is back in charge of the music cards.

Following an apology from Justin Timberlake for his role in her infamous “Super Bowl Malfunction”, Jackson’s 1986 album “Control” reached its peak last week.

As of Saturday night, it was the number 8 album most downloaded on Apple iTunes in the last 24 hours.

Jackson, 54, thanked fans for the love in an emotional video Saturday.

‘I was home alone the other day and started crying. “I cried because I was so grateful for everything God blessed me with, everything He gave me, and I am so grateful that he was in my life,” she said.

“I’m so grateful you were all in my life. You are so special to me, and I want to thank you all for making ‘Control’ number one again. After 35 years, never within a million years, I would think that would happen. I really appreciate you, and I love you so much. Thank you.”

Timberlake, 40, apologized to Jackson and ex-girlfriend Britney Spears when he was hit back last week following the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears,” which sheds light on his handling of his breakup with “Toxic” singer .

“I understand that in these moments and in many others, I have fallen short and benefited from a system that endorses misogyny and racism,” he wrote on Instagram. “I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson separately, because I care about and respect these women and know that I have failed.”

Timberlake tore the pasta off Jackson’s chest during their halftime performance in 2004 – a move that damaged her career but looked like Timberlake’s.
