Instagram has made a richer story interface for desktops

Instagram makes its Stories feature more complete on the desktop. In a small refresh of the interface, the company is currently updating the Stories feature so that it opens to display a carousel of videos that give an example of the next version and the content that has just been played. From this interface, viewers can click on the story they want to watch. It’s as if the little circles at the top of users’ feeds have gotten bigger and fullscreen.

This is a minor change, but it shuts down the function of the desktop and makes it more attractive to use, especially since people are more often on their computers while working from home. For the most part, Instagram Stories has remained unchanged for years. The format is the same as always, and reports are short-lived.

Most of Instagram’s format changes come in the form of creative tools, such as stickers for small businesses and new fonts. For now, Instagram is focusing heavily on Reels, its TikTok rival, with Stories receiving minor updates to keep it fresh.
