The state of Illinois this week added 80 new COVID-19 vaccination sites to continue dosing doses to people eligible for Phase 1B.

More than 3.2 million of the state’s residents are eligible for vaccinations in the current vaccination phase, which includes people aged 65 and older, as well as ‘essential workers’.

A total of 390 vaccination sites opened across the state.

The newly established sites contain 78 additional Walgreens sites, as well as two Illinois National Guard sites in Cook and St. Louis. Clair.

Current officials said the current vaccination sites in the state are available by appointment only, but the state plans to start boarding in the coming weeks.

Illinois has recently begun vaccinations at a number of pharmacies in the state, including Walgreens, Jewel-Osco, Mariano’s, Kroger and Hy-Vee.

In total, the chains make up more than 300 of the state’s 390 locations. These include:

• Hy-Vee – 16 places
• Jewel-Osco – 92 places
• Kroger – 17 places
• Mariano’s – 6 places
• Walgreens – 170 places

Eight Walmart locations in Chicago also administered COVID-19 vaccinations as of Wednesday, the company announced.

The two new sites of the National Guard bring the total number of state-supported sites to 12.

• North Riverside Health Center – 1800 S. Harlem Ave., North Riverside
• Provident Hospital – 500 E. 51st St., Chicago
• Robbins Health Center – 13450 S. Kedzie Ave., Robbins
• John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital – 1969 Ogden Ave., Chicago
• Tinley Park Convention Center – 18451 Convention Center Dr., Tinley Park
• Triton College – 2000 5th Ave., River Grove, T-Building on East Campus

Several local health departments also supply the vaccine across the state.

Despite the additional locations, Illinois officials continue to encourage patience, saying the supply of vaccine is limited.

“While we are increasing the number of vaccines administered daily, we are limited by the amount of vaccine available and allocated by the federal government,” the Illinois government, JB Pritzker, said in a release. . “Vaccinations are currently available by appointment only and we encourage people to check back regularly for open appointments. Until the offer is increased, there is a huge demand and we are asking people to be patient.
