Greece’s center-right government has named the country’s first public gay minister in a cabinet reshuffle
ATHENS, Greece – The center-right government in Greece on Monday named the country’s first public gay minister in a cabinet reshuffle. Nicholas Yatromanolakis, 44, has been named the new deputy minister of culture after being promoted from the post of general secretary to the ministry. The government retained its ministers of health and finance and most other important positions in the fluctuation. Greece is experiencing the impact of the pandemic that caused an increase in deaths in the autumn and is expected to cause a contraction of its gross domestic product by 10.5% in 2020. Despite the problems, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis left most of the key cabinet positions unchanged, with Christos Staikouras retaining finance minister and Vasilis Kilikias as health minister.
