Google’s Next Nest Hub May Use Pixel 4’s Soli Slide for Sleep Detection

Earlier this week, an FCC filing revealed Google is working on a new version of its Nest Hub smart screen. According to a report 9to5Google published on Thursday, the company will release the device later this year and use its Soli technology for sleep detection.

Soli, in the unlikely event that you erased it from your memory, is Google’s radar emission sensor. The company’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) unit outlined the technology at I / O 2015, but it only came to a consumer device in 2019 when Google released the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. Some of the phones powered more out of the box features, including MotionSense, which among other things allowed you to wave your hand above the screen to skip a song.
