Have you ever joined a video call and then realized that the camera was not plugged in or that your microphone was muted? Maybe you should try some “how do I sound?” is asked before determining which audio input is correct. These are all issues that Google wanted to pose in the past, as the company is now implementing a feature to test your setup before talking to others.

A new ‘Check your audio and video’ button is added to the landing page for Google Meet links. “With this new feature,” the company wrote, “you can enter meetings with confidence that your technology is working and that you will look the way you want [to] other. “You can see a quick preview of your settings, and even record a short video clip, which is especially useful for checking if you’re sitting on the right microphone.

Unfortunately, the new functionality seems to be limited to Meet on the Internet, as the Android or iOS apps do not appear in the blog post. Google says the button should be rolled out to everyone within the next 15 days.
