Gina Carano talks about ‘Mandalorian’ and Disney in the Ben Shapiro interview – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Gina Carano will open up about being released The Mandalorian in a sit-down interview with Ben Shapiro of The Daily Wire, which we can preview here on Deadline.

The interview will be presented on Sunday The Ben Shapiro Showis Carano’s first seat on camera since its launch last week from the hit Disney + Lucasfilm series for controversial posts on social media.

“I’ve been through so much and have seen so much of the bullying that has taken place, and I’ve seen it before,” the actress will tell Shapiro, with whom she has a new film contract. “I’m not the only one who’s ever been bullied by this company, and I know it so deeply,” she would claim.

She adds: “I can share a story that can turn things around in the media, but I can not, because it will sell out a friend … Everyone is afraid of losing their job.”

Carano, who played premium hunter Cara Dune in the first two seasons of the show, will explain how she knew the writing was on the wall before her recent deposition.

Do you know how boxers are sometimes looking and forget to go to the body? I feel like Disney or Lucasfilm or whoever it is, just certain people at that business … I feel like I was hunted (…) and you can feel it. Just a few weeks ago, Lucasfilm asked an artist to delete my character and post another character, and he proudly announces this on Twitter, deleting my character and posting another character. All of Cara Dune’s fans were just furious. They were like ‘Why didn’t you add the character? Why did you have to pull out the character? Is something wrong? Is Gina being fired? ”

Eventually, Carano says she found that she would not be on the series again like most of the world: via social media.

“How I found out was that I was looking on the internet, and you know, you go to your Twitter and I tend and the ‘fire Gina Carano’ hashtag worked.”

But she also says she accidentally received an email from a Disney staff member following the response on her social media.

‘They accidentally sent me an email that was very informative, so I knew. I knew they were paying attention. I know there were people who went to bat for me, but I know they did not win in the end. ”

Carano further agrees with conservative commentator Shapiro that she believes there are double standards at play in the studio, depending on someone’s politics. ‘They were everywhere with me and they watched me like a hawk, and I watched people in the same production and they could say anything they wanted, and that’s where I had a problem. I had a problem because I did not go along with the story … ‘

Carano says she did not want to comment on what she made, or stop talking on social media.

‘I was prepared to be released at any stage because I saw it happen to so many people. I saw the look on their faces. I saw the bullying going on, and when it started, they aimed their guns at you, and you know it’s just a matter of time. I saw it happen to so many people, and I just thought to myself (…) ‘You are coming for me, I know you are.’ “They make it very clear through their employees who come to me, and that’s why I was like, ‘I’m going to swing and I’ll stay true to myself. ”

She tells Shapiro at another point: ‘When you called, my body was still shaking. It’s devastating, but the thought of it happening to someone else, especially to someone who can not handle it like I can, no, they can not. They can not make people feel that way (….) And if I tie up, it would be good for these companies, which have a history of lies, to lie and do it to other people, and they I have it to other people done, and I do not go without fighting. ”

Carano’s controversial post on social media, described by Lucasfilm as ‘heinous’, was also dropped by her agency UTA. The former MMA star and Dead pool actress took up hell by sharing a TikTok post comparing the current divided political climate in the US to Nazi Germany.

‘Jews were beaten on the street, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors … even by children. Because history is being edited, most people today do not realize that in order to reach the point where Nazi soldiers could easily gather thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply because they were Jews. “How is it different from hating someone for their political views,” she wrote.

In another photo on Carano’s Instagram story, a person with multiple masks appears covering their face and head with the caption: “Meanwhile in California.”

Both posts were scrapped from the actress’s Instagram, but others picked them up and re-posted. The actress has previously been embroiled in controversy over posts about election fraud and gender pronouns.

It is not clear if she signed an NDA with Disney, which is common in major movie and TV franchises.
