A reasonable number of Galaxy S21 owners complain about the poor battery life Reddit and a few other forums, and the February 2021 security series that began rolling out last week may be the culprit.
All the complaints from customers come from people who own the Exynos variant, but it should be emphasized that the problem probably comes from software rather than from Samsung’s new hardware. And according to some users, the battery can speed up rapidly due to a problem with cellular connection. According to the Galaxy S21 owners concerned, the battery life falls within normal parameters when flight mode is activated.
There seem to be a lot of complaints regarding the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S21 +, especially while the Galaxy S21 Ultra is barely mentioned. Unfortunately, we can not confirm exactly how this problem occurs and whether it affects the Galaxy S21 Ultra, as none of our Galaxy S21 models powered by Exynos have been affected by this issue.
As mentioned in our Galaxy S21 + review, the battery life is out of this world, but it’s decent. The Galaxy S21 Ultra has left a much more positive impression with the battery life being surprisingly good even when 120Hz is turned on. However, the basic Galaxy S21 model has an average battery life that cannot impress.
Samsung is aware of the problems and is working on a solution
According to the Norwegian technology blog, Samsung is apparently aware of these unwanted symptoms affecting the Galaxy S21 series Tek.no, the company is working on a new firmware update that should address the issues.
The company has not yet announced a time frame, but it is possible that the newfound problems with battery life will solve the upcoming security solution of March 2021, assuming that a hotfix will not be released sooner. We tentatively advise Galaxy S21 owners to avoid the February 2021 security suite if possible until the issues are resolved.
