Ose, who served in the House from 1999-2005, said he would either be re-elected as Newsom or in the general election in 2022 when the governor will have to run for a second term if he is to survive the current campaign to to put him down.

Ose contrasts his campaign with Newsom’s handling of the coronavirus. Frustration has boiled over among Republicans due to its coronavirus restrictions, including the closure of schools and businesses. He also set off a firestorm when he ordered some businesses to close and urged Californians to stay home only to be spotted in a posh restaurant celebrating the birthday of a political adviser.
“Do as I say, not as I do. This is how Gavin Newsom works. Newsom joined the unions to close your children’s public schools while his children were in their classrooms. “Newsom ate at the most popular restaurant in California while he told you and me to stay home and supported locksmiths who destroyed mom and doll businesses,” Ose said in a campaign ad.

Supporters of Remembrance are facing a Wednesday deadline to submit 1.5 million valid signatures to get a recall of the vote, a scenario that is becoming increasingly likely.

On top of that, the numbers from Newsom’s polls have taken a hit, but it does not look fatal yet. A poll conducted by Emerson College for Nexstar Media found that California voters were divided over the recall of Newsom. The poll found that 42 percent of voters in the state would prefer to keep the governor, while 38 percent would vote to recall him.
The poll also found that 45 percent approve of Newsom’s treatment of the coronavirus, while 44 percent do not.
