‘I was told I knew what he was like, and if I loved him, I would not look men in the eye. So it was my reality for a good four months towards the end of the relationship, that I could not look men in the eye. ‘

She further explained that she would look at the ground if she were in public together and even began to separate from her friends and family.

Twigs claims it all took a while for her even after their relationship ended.

She said: ‘For a long time everything that woke me up at night, even if it was just my dog, or a noise outside, or just going to the bathroom, could cause a very intense panic attack.

‘I was left behind with PTSD [post-traumatic stress disorder] out of it, which again is just something I do not think we really talk about as a society, just in terms of healing when you leave, and how much work needs to be done to recover, to get back to the person who you were before. ‘

The talented artist said she could never have imagined going through her relationship with LaBeouf before.

She said: ‘All I can do is just think of myself when I’m 50 years old [and] I have children, I think about what I want to stand for.

“It simply came to our notice then. I never thought something like this would happen to me … when I’m older, when I have a daughter, I want to be able to say, ‘This thing happened to me. And I handled it. ‘It’s a great thing to heal in public and have to do it in front of everyone, but I can do it. I’m a big girl and can do it. ‘

Twigs also said she thinks it’s really impossible to leave him.

In the court documents, FKA alleged that he had a gun next to his bed while they slept, and feared that he would shoot her if she went to the bathroom and thought she was an intruder, as well as an allegation that he grabbed her arm ‘to the point of bruising’ and ‘violently’ her as she tried to move out.

She also alleged that he threw her against a car at a gas station and harassed her in public.

“What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” she told The New York Times via People. “I do not think people would ever think that this would happen to me. But I think that’s the thing. It can happen to anyone. ‘

Shia told The New York Times’ many ‘of the allegations are not true, and that he’ has no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, but only rationalizations. I have insulted myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I am ashamed of that history and am sorry for those I have hurt. There’s nothing else I can really say. ‘

The actor also said he was giving the women ‘the opportunity to make their statements public and accept responsibility for the things I did’, according to NYT.

Shia also told NYT that he was currently in therapy and in a 12-step program, although he was ‘not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism’.
