Barcelona expects to hold elections to determine the next president of the club on January 24, but this date is subject to change if the situation of COVID-19 in Spain worsens, but still candidate Joan Laporta believes it would be very strange if the election were suspended.
Laporta presented a list of more than 10,000 signatures in support of his candidacy on Monday afternoon, more than double that of his closest rival, Victor Font.
“We had a lot of confidence in the work our campaign team did. It would be very strange if the election was suspended,” Laporta declare.
“I have always been optimistic; i saw a campaign with a very good atmosphere.
“This result is spectacular. I think the right measures have been taken to protect the election. There is no objective reason why [they would be delayed]. “
