Ilaix Moriba was the surprising inclusion in Barcelonastart eleven for the Copa del Rey round of 32 collisions with Cornella on Thursday.
It was his excitement before his debut at senior age. The 18-year-old admitted he could barely sleep before the game.
“[The feelings] was great since the coach told me I would be in line, “he said after the 2-0 win.” Today I could hardly sleep.
“I am very happy and very grateful to the coach and the teammates. I thought [my debut] would never show up and this is the best birthday present. ‘
Ilaix mentions that the team was well aware that it would not be an easy task against Cornella Real Madrid eliminated by the Segunda B-side Alcoyano and Atletico Madrid stumble upon Barcelona‘s opponents in the previous round.
“The club teaches us a philosophy, but we knew it would not be easy,” he said.
‘The coach made it clear to us that it would be a complicated pitch, and that we could not think it would be easy and we won.
“The Copa del Rey is not an easy competition. Two good sides [Real Madrid and Atletico] knocked out and we want to give the fans a title. ‘
About his future with the senior side, Ilaix did not want to come out before himself.
“I go day by day,” he said.
‘They tell me if I’m going to go up [with the seniors] of af [to the B team] and I take it seriously.
“My team is Barcelona B and I am very grateful.”
