Facebook blocks the creation of new opportunities near the White House and Capitol buildings amid the inauguration of security

Just days before the inauguration of President Joe Biden, Facebook announced Friday that people will no longer be allowed to create new opportunities near the White House, the U.S. capital or any other capital buildings until after the inauguration day.

Facebook will also review all inauguration-related events and remove those that violate website policies and block events created in the U.S. by accounts and pages based outside the U.S.

“We are watching for signs of violence or other threats in Washington, DC and in all 50 states,” Facebook said in a statement. ‘… as in the weeks after the presidential election, we promote accurate information about the election and the violence at the Capitol instead of content that according to our systems may be less accurate, delegate the election or present the rioters as victims. ”

Facebook also said they continue to interrupt political ads and restrict some features to U.S. users “who repeatedly violate the policy.” Affected individuals cannot create live videos or create events, groups, or pages.

Facebook announced this hours after CBS News learned that the Department of Homeland Security said domestic extremists posed the biggest threat to Joe Biden’s inauguration next week.

DHS has issued an information conference saying some extremists believe Biden will not be a legitimate president. DHS also warned that violence against federal buildings, law enforcement and public officials could ensue.

Social media sites have sharpened their content moderation since the deadly attack on the Capitol on January 6th. Twitter it permanent ban the president, and Amazon skop Parler from its web hosting services because the content is not moderate.

On Wednesday, Airbnb announced that all bookings in the Washington DC area will be canceled next week and no new bookings in the area will be allowed during this time. The decision, Airbnb said, is due to various local, state and federal officials asking people not to travel to Washington DC. The hospitality website said it was also aware that armed militias and hate groups were planning Biden’s inauguration.
