Former New York Times opinion columnist and editor Bari Weiss mocked her former employer on Thursday, saying the Gray Lady had published a “press release” about Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter.
Weiss seems to feel that the newspaper is upholding its reputation as favoring liberals when it published a story praising Harris’s stepdaughter for receiving a modeling contract.
The piece with the headline, “Ella Emhoff gets a big modeling contract,” calls her an ‘outburst’ of the inauguration, The Daily Wire noted.

The report shows the president of IMG Models degenerating over Emhoff, promoting everything from her Instagram account to her tattoos, claiming that the fashion world is embracing the “focus on diversity and empathy” of the Biden government after four “antagonistic” years of handling the Trump administration.

“Emhoff throws a crocheted garnet at the image of a typical DC offspring, with a style that can be called Wes Anderson-chic. Weiss took note of the glowing piece and mocked it on Twitter.

Weiss published a serious letter of resignation in July, which she sent to Times Sul publisher AG Sulzberger on her personal website. She said she had been bullied by colleagues because of her heterodox view in an ‘illiberal environment’.
She added that she does not understand how toxic behavior may be within the newsroom, and that it does not take courage to work as a centrist at an American newspaper.
Weiss was not the only person to criticize the Times’ article, and others like Conor Friedersdorf, The Atlantic, noted that the Times made no mention that Emhoff would likely get the deal because of her famous stepmother.
