Ex-CNN producer says ‘double standard’ is clear after the network ignored harassment claims against Cuomo’s government

A former CNN correspondent believes the liberal network has shown a clear “double standard” by not covering sexual harassment allegations against New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo after he acted wildly against demands of former President Trump and Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Supreme Court.

Steve Krakauer, a former digital producer for CNN, who now edits the Fourth Watch media newsletter, said that patience with damning allegations would be justified if the rules applied to powerful men on both sides of the aisle.

MAIN STREAM MEDIA BLASTED FOR ‘BLATANT FINDING’ NEGATIVE SEXUAL BULLY EVIDENCE AGAINST CUOMO

“If the standard was for CNN or a network broadcast or cable, we’re going to take an allegation that contains no other corroborating sources, and we’re going to report it. Look for other sources with any witnesses before we actually report it on air. “I’m not really sure it’s a bad standard,” Krakauer told Fox News. “The problem, though, is that it’s not the standard.”

Former administration assistant Lindsey Boylan came out on Wednesday with explosive claims against the already-disputed Democrat, saying that Cuomo’s governments had asked her to play ‘strip poker’, an ugly reference to Bill Clinton’s notorious use of cigars, her touched lower back, kissed her. on the lips and makes her generally uncomfortable.

CNN, MSNBC, ABC’s “World News Tonight”, CBS ‘”Evening News” and NBC’s “Nightly News” dropped the bomb on Wednesday. None of the networks responded to a question from Fox News as to whether the lack of coverage was due to Boylan’s allegation. Critics have assumed that the mainstream media is merely covering for Cuomo, who enjoyed favorable press coverage during 2020 for his pandemic response.

GOV. CUOMO ACCUSED OF SEXUAL BULLYING BY PREVIOUS AID

Either way, Krakauer carefully feels that sexual harassment and assault charges are appropriate “when it comes to air, cable or network TV reporting”, but the general media has proven that this is not the typical protocol as the accused is not a Republican.

“We have seen numerous incidents that when it comes to allegations against Donald Trump, when it comes to allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, when the allegations come from one direction, it is immediately and in many cases wall to wall before any further report is reported. “The problem, then, is the hypocrisy and the double standard, not so much the lack of reporting per se,” Krakauer said.

When CNN finally covered the story Thursday with a story leading up to Cuomo’s denial, critics quickly pointed out that Kavanaugh did not receive the same treatment.

Krakauer pointed out that Twitter is “a very different story” and that unknown claims are often shared immediately. However, many general media personalities active on social media have remained silent about Boylan’s allegations.

“I was quite shocked because it did not get more attention from people who would normally share the story,” Krakauer said.
