EVs with Google Maps will make it easier to plan trips around recharging

Cars with built-in Google Maps get a few more features that would make it easier to plan trips around charging stations. Google uses graph theory in its latest routing algorithms to help you determine the best way to reach your destination. If you need more than one charging stop, Maps will look at thousands of public charging stations to find the most efficient route in ten seconds, Google says. The app will note how long it will take to juice up your EV at each stop, as well as your total travel time, including recharging.

For shorter trips that require only one stop, Maps will display a list of charging stations. You can choose a place where you can load your EV the fastest, or one where you have membership. You can see what amenities are nearby if you want to pick up groceries or a coffee while you wait.
