According to Variety, Emilia Clarke is in ‘final negotiations’ (an underrated European song) to join Marvel’s upcoming Disney + series Secret Invasion, which is somehow linked to the Skrulls of Captain Marvel and plays Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn playing their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles, along with a suspected villain played by Kingsley Ben-Adir and a mystery character played by Olivia Colman. The Secret Invasion the story in the comic was about Skrulls replacing key characters on earth, including superheroes, so that they could take over without really trying too hard, and the film would probably take the basic beats of the story, while changing everything else dramatically about it ( the standard MCU approach, in other words).
What Clarke is possibly playing, Variety do not know and Marvel will not say, but –like yesterday, when we heard about the cast of Colman– we have some guesses. The obvious choice, and it’s more obvious today than it was yesterday seemed as the obvious choice is that Clarke Veranke, the queen of the Skrulls, can play. There’s a fun symmetry to her Game of Thrones character there, since dragons are sometimes green and Skrulls are green, but maybe it’s too much symmetry? We jokingly suggested yesterday that Colman should play Kl’rt, the Super-Skrull with the powers of all the Fantastic Four, but maybe Colman could be Veranke and Clarke could be Kl’rt? Or maybe it’s just boring people who do not know bumpy green and can not turn into other people. They may even be other members of the Boehner family, such as Evan Peters’ character in WandaVision. It was a funny joke that everyone liked, right?
