Drake and Paul Rudd join Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers in State Farm Super Bowl LV commercial

He’s not afraid to make fun of himself, not even in his own music videos.

And Drake was still practicing the good sport when he made a surprising appearance in the State Farm Insurance Super Bowl LV ad on Sunday.

The 34-year-old rap superstar joined Paul Rudd, 51, as stand-ins in a meta-ad that also featured Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Playing himself: Drake, 34, was a good sport in a State Farm ad that aired on Super Bowl Sunday, in which he played a stand-in for an insurance ad

The ad opened with Rodgers, 37, and Mahomes, 25, in a movie studio before recording their State Farm ad.

“Hey Rodgers, I’m you!” shouts the actor who plays for the quarterback, who looks nothing like him and wears a motley cheese hat.

“You could not find a link that looked like me?” Ask Rodgers for Jake from State Farm (played by Kevin Miles).

“Have you seen mine?” Ask Mahomes before pointing to Rudd, who is wearing the same lightning trousers and holding a football.

“It’s like looking in a mirror, isn ‘t it?” he says, before accidentally throwing the ball behind himself.

“Now that makes sense,” teased Rodgers, the younger quarterback who was on the field when the ad aired.

But Jake of State Farm complains that he does not even have a stand-in.

“Of course you do,” reads a figure grabbing a few snacks at the craft services table.

Mahomes unbelievably asks if Jake from State Farm’s inclusion is Drake.

“It’s true, Drake of State Farm,” he says with a straight face.

Drake and the spokesman stand next to each other in their red shirts and start reciting the brand’s slogan, but Jake from State Farm stops him halfway.

“Hey, stand-ins have no lines,” he informs the Hotline Bling rapper, who crunches on an apple while saying the slogan.

Although Drake is now best known for his music career, he first gained notoriety in the Canadian high school series Degrassi, where he played Jimmy Brooks.

His character was initially a basketball player before being paralyzed during a school shooting.

Closes: 'Hey, stand-ins have no lines,' Jake informs the Hotline Bling rapper as he tries to double his lines.

Sunday’s advertisement in the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs aired shortly after Rodgers revealed that he had become engaged.

On Saturday, when he accepted the award for the NFL Most Valuable Player in 2020 via a speech on YouTube, he briefly mentioned that he was getting engaged and thanked his ‘fiancée’ whom he did not mention.

E! News reported a few days earlier that the soccer star was in a relationship with Shailene Woodley (29) of Big Little Lies.

Although he did not mention the actress in his acceptance speech, he thanked Jodie Foster, who co-starred with Woodley in the upcoming film The Mauritanian.

“They kept things private and low,” a source said, adding that the couple’s relationship was “long-distance”.
