‘Double Mutant’ COVID-19 variant found in the Bay – NBC Bay Area

A new variant of the coronavirus is in the Bay Area, and it is presumably the first of its kind in the United States. It is a double mutation and is believed to be responsible for the increase in cases in India.

Fresh from a vacation in Hawaii, some travelers mostly families with children on tow arrived in San Jose Saturday night with the Big Island.

‘We played it really safe, but a few factors really came to the decision. “One looks at how the numbers are going down and then Hawaii was really safe,” Kristina Barnes said.

But although Bay Area provinces have reported a decline in new COVID-19 infections, a variant of the coronavirus has been confirmed here in Santa Clara County.

Experts at Stanford Health have confirmed that a new, double mutation of the coronavirus is suspected in at least one case here in the Bay and more.

But it is still unclear whether this new variant is more dangerous.

“There is no definitive evidence that this dual variant is more virulent or causes more serious diseases.” Dean Winslow told Stanford University.

Stanford researchers have identified a new variant in the Bay Area. It was first identified in India and has two mutations.

It is said that the three vaccines are still effective against the Indian variant.

‘Most people have an immune response. “Maybe it does not protect against an all-out infection, but at least it protects against moderate or serious illnesses,” Winslow added.

It is believed that the Indian variant is more transmissible, leading to health experts to reinforce how essential it is to be vaccinated.

What it really only emphasizes is how important it is that the entire American population be vaccinated as soon as possible.

But at the moment, Santa Clara County said the CDC does not consider this new variant a “variant of interest.”

Meanwhile, the US recently set a new vaccine record, reaching 4 million shots in one day.
