DOJ asks US lawyers in Trump era to resign

The Justice Department will ask U.S. attorneys appointed by former President Donald Trump to resign, according to a senior official at the department.

However, the federal prosecutor overseeing the federal tax investigation in which Hunter Biden is involved has been asked to stay on the job.

U.S. Attorney John Durham, who has been appointed as special counsel to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, will also remain in office.

However, Durham is expected to resign from his post other than the U.S. Attorney in Connecticut.

The U.S. Attorney Transition process is commonplace between administrations.

It is expected that it will take several weeks before the single dozen remaining appointments in the Trump era leave and are replaced by nominees for President Joe Biden.

A number of U.S. lawyers elected by Trump have already left their position.
