ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Denver Broncos’ line judge, Von Miller, will not face criminal charges, the 18th District Court Attorney’s Office said.
The office declined to file a complaint “based on our review of the information currently available,” according to a statement Friday.
The district attorney’s office said the case did not meet the standards of probable cause of admissible evidence “in support of a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt, and that the decision to charge is in the interests of justice.”
The office said it would not comment further on an investigation “in which there was never a citation, arrest or submission.”
Police in Parker, a suburb southeast of Denver, admitted that Miller was investigating. Miller did not comment on any part of the investigation, nor has he responded to requests for comment in recent weeks.
Neither the police nor the district attorney said what the investigation was for or what charges Miller could face.
George Paton, general manager of the Broncos, said on Thursday that the team wants Miller for the 2021 season – Miller has an option year in his contract for the season that should involve the team – but he added that he wants to see the legal process play out. ”
