Disneyland Resort in Anaheim has been established as the first Super Point-of-Dispensing (POD) website for COVID-19 vaccines in Orange County and will open later this week, officials announced Monday.
“Disneyland Resort, the largest employer in the heart of Orange County, has stepped up to host the province’s first Super POD website. It has undertaken a monumental task in our distribution process,” said acting chairman Andrew Do, first district, said in a country. statement announcing the website. “We appreciate the support of the Orange County Fire Authority, our cities and our residents as we continue to implement COVID-19 vaccinations throughout the province.”
According to the country, the premises will be able to vaccinate thousands of residents daily.
“It is important to vaccinate as many volunteers as possible for COVID-19, and we need the space to do that,” Third District Supervisor Donald P. Wagner said in the county statement. “I thank Disneyland Resort and the City of Anaheim for their intensive efforts to provide OC residents with protection against the virus.”
The Disneyland site is expected to be in use later this week, and it will coincide with a similar timeline as in Los Angeles, changing Dodger Stadium from a COVID-19 test site to a vaccination super site.
The website will continue to follow state guidelines and only provide photos to people eligible for vaccinations. Currently, the state only allows people who are in ‘phase’ 1a ‘to receive vaccines, and the group recently expanded to include everyone who is 75 years and older, according to the province’s statement.
Only people with appointments that fall under Phase 1a will receive vaccinations in the Anaheim resort, the country said.
“Coronavirus has caused a public health crisis and economic devastation,” Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu said in the statement. ‘With this super-site we’ll both start to overcome. Every vaccination done in Anaheim will help save lives and expedite the reopening and restoration of our city. ”
