Demi Lovato says she was the night she was sexually assaulted by an overdose by her drug dealer

Demi Lovato speaks like never before.

The 28-year-old singer is the subject of a new documentary series, “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil”, which premieres at SXSW on Tuesday. In the document, the star claims that her drug dealer sexually assaulted her on the night of her almost fatal overdose in 2018.

“I did not just overdose. I was exploited,” she says in the documentation.

According to Sirah Mitchell, a friend of the star, Lovato was given heroin “fed with fentanyl” that July night, and the dealer finally left her standing really high and left her for dead.

The singer of ‘Anybody’ says when she woke up in a hospital, medical professionals asked her if she had permission to have sex.

“There was one flash I had on top of me. I saw the flash and I said ‘Yes’,” the pop star said. “I only realized a month after the overdose: ‘You were not in a state of mind to make a decision. ‘

Unfortunately, the alleged encounter with the drug dealer was not Lovato’s first sexual incident, the star said.

“When I was a teenager, I was in a very similar situation,” she reveals in the documentation. “I lost my virginity in a rape.”

The singer said that she and the alleged attacker were ‘dating’ at the time, but that she was clear that she was not ‘ready’ to have sex.

“I was part of the Disney crowd that publicly said they were waiting until the wedding. I did not have the romantic the first time,” she shares. “It was not for me – it sucked. Then I had to see this person all the time, so I stopped eating and coped in other ways.”

The “Camp Rock” star also says she revealed what happened to her with adults, but the alleged attacker “never had any problems with it.”

About a month after the incident, Lovato said, she called the alleged attacker ‘and tried to rectify it by being in control’, but that ultimately only made her ‘feel worse’.

“Both times there were trauma versions in the textbook, and I really beat myself up for years, and that’s why I really put a lot of effort into reconciling the fact that it was a rape,” Lovato says.
