Delivery Delayed for Nearly 10,000 Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine in North Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The delivery of nearly 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines in North Texas has been delayed, according to the Texas Department of Public Health.

The DSHS said in a statement:

‘DSHS has received the message that based on federal shipping schedules, the vaccine ordered Friday, which is expected to arrive today, is expected to arrive tomorrow, January 19, based on the most recent information from Pfizer and our federal partners. The delay had 55 of the 263 providers scheduled to get vaccinated this week. ”

Of the 55 locations affected across the state, five are in North Texas.

Locations in North Texas include Collin County Health Care Services, the McKinney Fire Department, the City Garland Health Department, Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic.

The delay means that 9,975 doses are expected to arrive a day later than planned.

It is unclear what effect, if any, the delays on the distribution will have, as many suppliers were closed Monday for the MLK Jr. holiday. In cities across the state, the vaccinations were scheduled for Monday later this week and are “dependent on the delivery of the doses,” a San Antonio official said in a statement.
