Of the total deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 12,000 residents occurred in nursing or personal care facilities.

Officials note that the number of deaths reported to NEDSS is not exactly the same as the COVID-19 deaths reported by the death register.

The number of deaths among residents and employees of nursing homes and personal care homes was derived from the PA-NEDSS death data, as this information is not available in the death register data.

About 24,157 of the total cases are among health workers.

The Wolf administration on Friday issued a COVID-19 vaccine order to expedite the process.

According to officials, the Department of Health is working to ensure that the vaccine is provided in an ethical, equitable and effective manner, although the vaccine supply of the federal government remains limited.
