Country singers respond to Morgan Wallen with a racial slur: ‘Hatred runs deep’

Morgan Wallen apologizes after being caught on video by a racial uproar, but the setback was quick and he was “indefinitely” suspended by his record company.

The country singer – last in the news when his mask-free pandemic party bumps into him Saturday Night Live (he was later converted) – was captured on a video, published by TMZ, according to the N-word.

“I am embarrassed and sorry,” the 27-year-old “Whiskey Glasses” crooner said in a statement. ‘I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial barrier that I wish I could take back. There are never excuses to use this type of language. I sincerely apologize for the use of the word. I promise to do better. ”

Wallen’s representative at Sweet Talk Publicity told Yahoo Entertainment that further comments are imminent.

The video recordings, apparently recorded Sunday by Wallen’s neighbor in Nashville, showed the singer being dropped off by friends and apparently stumbling to his home. As he did so, he shouted the N-word and a few other swear words for whoever was in the car.

There was already a dropout. Wallen, who is considered one of the country’s hottest rising stars,’s record contract has been suspended.

A statement posted on Big Loud Records’ social media said the decision was made “to suspend Morgan Wallen’s contract indefinitely” and Republic Records, which distributes his recordings, “supports the decision of Big Loud and agree that such conduct will not be tolerated. “

It is not yet clear what a ‘suspended’ contract means, as it is not a common practice in the music industry.

Furthermore Wallen – who currently has the number 1 album, Dangerous: the double album, for the third consecutive week in the country – his music is stimulated by iHeartRadio and Cumulus Media, the largest radio station groups in the USA

Other country singers responded quickly, including Mickey Guyton, who is the first black female solo artist to ever receive a Grammy nomination in a country category. She said “the hatred runs deep” in one tweet.

In a second report, she writes that “this is not the first time he has used an ‘unacceptable’ race, and we all know that.” And she wanted to know what was going to be done about it, because “crickets are not working this time.”

And the “Black Like Me” singer also reacted to those who remark that Wallen is not representative of who country music is. She wrote: ‘I laugh, because that’s exactly who country music is. I saw it ten years ago. You just have to read some of the bad comments that are thrown at me every day. It’s a cold hard truth, but it’s the truth. ‘

Although she made it clear, she does not believe in ‘cancel culture’.

Kelsea Ballerini is one who has said that Wallen’s behavior is “not county music.”

She then replied, ‘The truth is the truth’ to a commentator who said it would have worse consequences if it was a female artist.

Maren Morris agreed that ‘this is actually a representative of our city, because this is not his first’ fight ‘and he just broke a big current record last month. We all know that this was not the first time he used the word. We keep them rich and protected at all costs, without using. ”

However, Morris agrees with the sentiment about the fact that women in the country are being treated harder, and responds: ‘Yup. we will be dropped, underwriting will be lost, social pariahs on music … ”

Wallen made headlines in October Saturday Night Live replaced him as musical guest due to ‘COVID-19 protocols’ after TikTok videos surfaced of him partying – sans mask – and kissing several women during a visit to a university campus. At the time, he apologized and said, ‘I think I still have to grow up. I think I lost myself a little bit. ‘He finally made his SNL debut two months later – and had fun with the controversy.

In an interview with Access last month, he said his intentions “were not malicious. I have not tried to do anything disrespectful, ‘I add,’ I am still learning.
