Closing Weekends for Robertson Boulevard West Hollywood for Dining – Deadline

One of West Hollywood’s most famous streets will close on weekends from today for an effort to expand outdoor dining.

West Hollywood’s Robertson Boulevard is the target of the “Out on Robertson” pilot program. With the concept, businesses can use sidewalks, parking lots and private parking areas as dining areas.

Road closures begin Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m. from North Robertson Boulevard and extend south of Santa Monica Boulevard and north of Melrose Avenue. Traffic will resume at an indefinite point later in the night, likely when outlying areas close to the eateries.

Robertson Boulevard establishments include The Ivy, Il Piccolino and Tagine Beverly Hills.

“The closure of this highly traded and active piece of Robertson provides a safe space for pedestrians that allows for the necessary social distance, as the Department of Public Health facilitates capacity constraints while still monitoring the spread of the virus,” said John M Erickson, a West Hollywood councilor, said in a statement.

Indoor dining space is limited to 50 percent of capacity in the province under the “Orange tiger” reopening protocols. Bars can only work outside and tables should be located 8 feet apart.

In West Hollywood, more than 60 businesses will be allowed to expand under what are considered temporary measures en route to a full-blown pandemic. Shops, training and personal care places can also make use of the relaxed rules.
