A Walmart spokesman confirmed to NBC 7 that Walmart had temporarily closed its Chula Vista shopping center to thoroughly clean and disinfect the building.
The Chula Vista Supercenter, located at 875 E. H St., closed Sunday at 2 p.m., and will reopen on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Walmart says the closure is part of a program initiated by the company to clean and disinfect building staff and to give employees time to recharge their shelves to get the store ready for reopening.
Walmart issues the following statement:
“Everything we do is for the well-being of our employees and customers, and taking into account the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and health experts. When the store reopens on Tuesday, we will continue to do medical health screens and temperature checks, and all staff will be provided with face masks and gloves.
These protocols are a complement to the extensive measures we put in place during the pandemic to protect our employees and customers, including the installation of sneeze protectors in registers, temperature controls and mandatory mask wear for employees, the installation of social distance signs and the setting up of emergencies. leave policy for employees who are unable or uncomfortable to come to work. In addition, with the help of our health ambassadors, we will continue to require customers to wear protective face masks while in the building.
“We will continue to work closely with elected and local health officials, and adapt how we serve the community, while also keeping the health and safety of our customers and staff in mind.”
