Choose pepperoni Hot Pockets recalled due to complaints of glass, plastic in the product

Nestle Prepared Foods is recalling more than 762,000 pounds of pepperoni Hot Pockets after consumers complained that they found pieces of glass or plastic in the product. At least one case resulted in a minor verbal injury, according to a recall notice posted on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food safety and inspection service website.

The company in Kentucky said it has received four complaints about products not ready to eat, produced from November 13, 2020 to November 16, 2020. The product has a shelf life of 14 months.

As a result, the company recalled all of the 54-oz. carton packaging containing 12 “Nestle HOT POCKETS MARK SANDWICHES: PREMIUM PEPPERONI MADE WITH PORK, CHICKEN AND BEEF PIZZA GARLIC CRUST” with a “BEST BEFORE FEB 2022” date and lot codes 0318544624. 0319544614, 0319544614, 0319544614,.

The product is distributed to retailers in the US and Puerto Rico.

The company’s website stated in a recall notice that other variations of the product, including those packaged in two, five and 17 types, are not affected by the recall.

The company did not specify what happened during production to cause the contamination.
